Using
MSConfig
Msconfig.exe
is a program within Windows that can be used to
find out everything that starts automatically
when you boot up your computer.
|
For Windows XP, click on
the Start button, then Run, and type msconfig into the
input field and hit enter. A dialog box with six tabs will open.
Click the
Startup
tab. Expand the column "Command" by dragging the column separators with
your
mouse when it turns into a double arrow, so that you can see more of the
command location. If you see folders that don't look like a legitimate
system program or application, like "Alexa", etc., uncheck the box in the
far left column to remove it from the start-up. The program will not be
removed, just the link that causes it to start up whenever you start your
computer. Important! Please be sure to return to the
General tab and verify that the "Normal Startup"
button is checked before hitting the "OK" button to save your changes.
